About Us

Excellent Painting is owned and operated by Jay Maasch.  Raised on a farm in outstate Minnesota he learned early the value of applying one’s self diligently (aka “hard work!”).  At 14 he painted his farm house & buildings, and at 16 started a painting business with a friend, working his way through high school and college.  Since 1990 he as painted new construction, and homes of all sizes.  By rounding out his experience with stints in remodeling and carpentry, he has learned allied skills and knowledge useful to serving his painting customers.

While usually working alone, with adequate advance notice he can call on trusted help for larger projects with tight deadlines.  Such help is always tightly supervised--just ask them!

For nearly a decade, Jay has been a member of The ManKind Project (ManKindProject.org)and (Minnesota.MKP.org), a non-religious (neutral) men’s organization with a strong focus on developing accountability,  responsibility, integrity, and emotional intelligence.  He is also a Certified Therapeutic (Life) Coach® helping people build excellence in their lives.  Through his personal journey he has come to practice “excellence” as the quality of performing at one’s best, while taking responsibility to correct mistakes.  This attitude of excellence is the engine that drives Excellent Painting in service, professionalism, workmanship, and customer satisfaction. 

Jay lives in Minneapolis with his girlfriend Deborah, her son, 2 dogs and 2 cats!   He enjoys the wilderness, gardening, reading, and helping people make the changes in their lives they desire.  MPR listener.  Life is Good!
